Environmental Monitoring and Assessment

This   project is developed for the users to sense the temperature, humidity and gas leakage  of different areas and to forecast it in online manner. 
            The main part of the Unit is Microcontroller, Temperature sensor, humidity sensor, gas sensor and RF module.  The three sensors sense the temperature, humidity and gas leakage simultaneously.  The sensors send signal to the Microcontroller unit through driver section.  The micro controller immediately sends corresponding signal to the RF transmitter module.  The RF transmitter module sends the corresponding code by means of RF signal.  The RF receiver connected with the PC module receives the signal and sends to the microcontroller unit.  The microcontroller unit sends the corresponding code to the PC through serial port.
  Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Parts:
Temperature sensor
            This sensor(Thermistor) senses the temperature of the surroundings.  According to the temperature variation, the resistance of the thermistor varies.  It sends signal to the microcontroller through buffer.
Humidity sensor
            This sensor senses the humidity of the surroundings.    It sends signal to the microcontroller through buffer.
Gas sensor
            This sensor senses the gas leakage of the surroundings.  If there is any symptoms for gas, it sends signal to the microcontroller through buffer.
Microcontroller
The microcontroller used in this circuit is PIC16F73.  It is a 28 pin IC with three I/O ports.  The program written in the microcontroller can be erased electrically and re written again.  It has inbuilt ADC.  The signal from the sensor is given to the microcontroller.  According to the signal received from the sensors, it controls the RF transmitter section through driver section and relays.  The microcontroller program is written in assembly language.  The assembly language program is compiled to form “hex” code.  The “hex” code is written in the microcontroller using PIC write software with the help of PIC writer.
RF Transmitter
This section transmits RF waves according to the signal from the microcontroller.  The Humidity, temperature and gas data are transmitted through the antenna.
RF Receiver
This section receives RF signal the Transmitter.  The Humidity, temperature and gas data are received and sent to the microcontroller through buffer.
Microcontroller
            The microcontroller receives the data and accordingly it sends signal to the PC through USART.
USART
            This is serial port communication.  The signal from the microcontroller is sent to the PC through serial port.  The analogue data is converted into digital data and sent to the PC.
PC
            The software in the PC receives the data and accordingly it displays the data.  Also it stores the data in the PC.
The user can view the temperature, humidity and gas leakage in online manner.  The microcontroller used is PIC 16F73.  The microcontroller program is written in assembly language and the Design and port programs are written in Visual Basic.
