Smart Parking in vehicular environments using Cellular Automation

               A major research topic in intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) is the development of systems that will be capable of controlling the flow of vehicular traffic through crossroads, particularly in urban environments. The purpose of this project is to develop and design an intelligent transport system for smart parking.

        In this work, we propose an innovative adaptive recommendation mechanism for smart parking. In this project we have three sections. Two parking slots and one vehicle section, the parking section 1 is with ARM9 microcontroller and other with ARM7 microcontroller.
The first parking section consists of RF receiver module, GSM and IR sensors. The second parking section contains RF transmitter module and IR sensors.
The vehicle section contains a switch, GSM module and LCD.
The vehicle section is kept in the vehicle, when the person in the vehicle wants to know the information about the free parking slots then he will press the button in the vehicle then a missed call goes to the GSM section in the parking section 1 about the free parking space from the GSM in the vehicle section. Then on receiving the message from vehicle section, the parking space for the vehicle whether it is empty or full is checked with IR sensors and sends an SMS to the vehicle section regarding the space. This is received by GSM and displayed on the LCD like parking section 1 is available. When parking section 1 is not empty then it takes the information about the second section using RF communication. We have RF TX in section 2 and RF RX in section 1. The information about the space in section 2 is continuously given to the RX section whether empty or full. If it is empty or full then this information is given to the vehicle section by parking section 1 using GSM.

GSM has become the world's fastest growing communications technology of all time and the leading global mobile standard, spanning 218 countries. GSM is an open, digital cellular technology used for transmitting mobile voice and data services. GSM operates in the 900MHz and 1.8GHz bands GSM supports data transfer speeds of up to 9.6 kbps, allowing the transmission of basic data services such as SMS.
